I could go on for hours - it's like everything is constantly in alpha/beta version, like their infamous splash screen for android 12. That is by no means complete list, only tiny fraction of problems from the top of my head. On top of regular, constantly-present bugs And I work on multiple projects, so every time I update AS/gradle/multiple dependencies, I need to spend like 3-4 days fixing update-related bugs. It is especially frustrating with bigger projects, because I sometimes have to spend a whole day to fix it all. Not saying, that after EVERY single update of gradle or AS, or even dependences, some functionality breaks. The solution was to change target level to 32, but then you can't use the latest versions of some libs. They fixed it in the latest AS, so I did an update - and voila - it indeed solved this one bug, but I got 5 new ones lol In the previous AS there was a bug, when targeting Android 33, you didn't get any suggestions in some XML layouts - you got an error Cannot find declaration to go or another one No suggestions. Sometimes even elementary things don't work properly - for example occasionally you get compilation problems without any details at all, it's ridiculous "Restart Logging" button isn't available in the new logcat. Its very annoying.Restarting AS or killing adb doesnt work 90% of the times, but 10% it does. Some emulators logs properly, others dont. I've literally never been this frustrated in 15+ years of software development (and 7+ android).įor example these are the issues I fought for DAYS just in the last 2 weeks:ĭebugging often does not work in the latest AS But I feel situation is worse and worse every year. I've been developing android apps for a living quite a few years, so I am no beginner.
